About

Mass Extinctions, Organic Geochemistry, & Art.

I am an organic geochemist specializing in biomarkers, compound-specific isotope, and bulk isotopic analysis analyses to help reconstruct paleoenvironmental conditions and ecological successions of eukaryotic and prokaryotic photosynthetic organisms, microbial organisms, and plant communities. Throughout my Ph. D and post-doctorate research I have used such analyses to better understand the complex interactions between mass extinction events/episodes of biotic turnover and large igneous provinces with focus on carbon cycle perturbation. I aim to use such investigations that detail past ecological and environmental perturbations during periods of rapid carbon dioxide increases to help better understand modern ecological and environmental climates changes related to carbon dioxide increases.

Additionally, I want to help bring together art and science in new and interesting ways. To achieve this I have begun collaborating with artists of varying styles to help present novel scientific findings in new and interesting ways. Please check out the Art and Science tab!
